People often think they know why a man would cheat in a relationship. While women who stray from their partner are typically seen to have needed emotional or intellectual fulfillment, people often assume men cheat for more superficial reasons. However, a new study is proving people wrong. Here are some reasons men said that they’ve cheated and they may surprise you.
1) Emotional dissatisfaction. While some may believe that physical intimacy and that alone is the key to a long lasting relationship, 48 percent of men polled by WebMD revealed that they cheated on their partner because they were emotionally dissatisfied.
2) Intimacy. Sometimes, when a man cheats it has nothing to do with the relationship at all but his inner problems with commitment. When a man who fears intimacy gets too close to a relationship, he may cheat to distance himself from his girlfriend.
This is also the case when men simply feel like the relationship has reached its natural end and want an out. A man may cheat on his girl to prove to himself that he really wants to leave the relationship or in order to make it easier for him to
3) He’s a liar. While men often cheat for reasons that have nothing to do with their partner or relationship, sometimes it’s because of their own flexible relationship with the truth.
Sometimes guys lie and commit to a relationship when they actually have no intention of being monogamous. They’re called ‘serial cheaters’ and their issues are solely with themselves.
4) Expectations. Some men cheat because they set too high expectations for their partner, expecting them to satisfy all of their physical, emotional and intellectual needs at all times which is basically impossible.
5) Libido. If your boyfriend’s libido operates a lot faster than yours, he may find himself constantly feeling physical urges which could lead him to cheat in order to get release
This is especially coupled if he has little to no friends, meaning he has no peer community to build his life around and therefore, making him focus all of his energy on you.
