Things change in technology all the time, but the one thing that has stayed the same is the keyboard. Have you ever noticed that it hasn’t made very many changes?

The look of the keyboard has virtually stayed the same over the years. With the layout looking the same without any changes to any of the keys.

But one thing maybe you never noticed are the bumps on the F and J keys? There is a reason these two keys have these ridges.

When you are typing, these two keys are actually designed to help with a certain part of using a keyboard, and you probably didn’t know why.

These tiny bumps actually help improve your speed and accuracy when typing. It all has to do with where you place your fingers on the keyboard.

When you are preparing to type something, your fingers naturally go to the F and J keys, which lets you know that the ASD and KL keys are nearby.

This minor invention was made by June E. Botch and it makes the keyboard even more useful without people even realizing it. It’s hard to say if the keyboard didn’t have the bumps on these two letters if it would affect typing or not.
