1) Boost immune system

Not everyone has a powerful immune system that allows them to stay healthy and battle infections and other illnesses. Some people choose to load up on cold medications and increase their vitamin C intake when they feel a cold coming on, but you can also try garlic to help battle or prevent sickness. Garlic is packed full of antioxidants that can have a positive impact on your immune system, which is why many people opt to use it when they aren’t feeling 100 percent healthy. There are a number of ways people can consume garlic, such as garlic tea, or simply just add it to their food on a regular basis. No matter how you choose to get your fill, the more you consume, the higher your chances are of avoiding sickness or fighting off the cold you may already have.

2) Acne

Anyone who has had or currently suffers from acne has probably learned how difficult it can be to achieve clear skin. You can try every product available but nothing seems to work. There an abundance of acne medications and treatments on the market as well as tons of home remedies. Many work for some people but not necessarily for others. If the drug store acne medications have failed you, you could try rubbing a sliced clove of garlic over your trouble spots. Garlic has antioxidants that are powerful enough to kill bacteria which is often the cause of acne, and may provide you with the clear skin for which you have been longing. If it doesn’t work, there is no need to worry about any harsh effects because you are using something natural and safe.

3) Reduces blood pressure

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common medical condition that many people live with and can develop at any point during their lifetime. Like most medical conditions, a popular form of treatment for high blood pressure is prescription medication, but garlic may also help. The reason garlic works so well is because it contains allicin and there have been several studies that have shown consuming allicin may lead to a reduction in blood pressure. For those with high blood pressure, you may want to try adding a little garlic to your diet and hopefully you will see a reduction in your blood pressure and an increase in your overall health.

4) Pesticide

Growing your own garden can be a hassle when you have insects constantly nibbling and picking at your plants. A common way people deal with this issue is to use a pesticide that will kill or keep the insects away. There is the option of purchasing a store-bought, chemical pesticide but you could also try garlic to get the job done without the use of any harsh chemicals. You can create your own homemade pesticide by combining garlic, water, soap and mineral oil. Simply place the mixture in a small spray bottle and spray it on the plants that insects tend to feast on. After spraying, you should notice a reduction in the amount of destruction of your plants and the number of insects that hang around them.

5) Anti inflammatory

Pain and inflammation are common symptoms of many different medical conditions. While it may not be serious, it can be uncomfortable, and you may want to try to reduce the inflammation and ease the associated pain. Instead of turning to pain relief medications, why not try to reduce the inflammation and the pain should go away as a result. Garlic has natural anti-inflammatory properties and you can add it to your diet through your food or tea, but there is also the option of taking garlic supplements. How you get the garlic into your system does not matter as much as getting enough to allow yourself to feel the benefits.

6) Protects against organ damage

Depending on various circumstances, such as where you worked or lived in the past or currently, you may have been exposed to toxins that can cause damage to your organs. In some cases, there is little that can be done once the organs have been exposed for too long, but that does not mean that there is nothing to be tried at all. There are sulfur compounds found in garlic that may help to keep organs safe from the damage that heavy metal toxins may have caused. First and foremost, in order to know how much damage your organs have sustained you will need to be tested by your doctor. If you begin to consume garlic on a regular basis, then you and your doctor may notice that your organ damage has not progressed or has even gotten slightly better.

7) Athlete’s foot

When people play sports or engage in physical activity on a regular basis, they are more prone to getting certain types of infections and medical conditions, one of those being athlete’s foot. Athlete’s foot is caused by a fungus and is an uncomfortable, itchy skin condition usually occurs on the feet between the toes. There are many over the counter treatments available but if you want to try one that is natural, cheap and effective, start with garlic. You will need to create a mixture of crushed garlic and warm water that you can soak your feet in. Since garlic has antifungal properties, you should experience relief shortly afterwards and if not, you should try soaking your feet one or two more times for a longer period of time to provide relief. Should it return, you may now have a surefire remedy to help rid yourself of this fungus.

8) Hair Re-growth

Not everyone has a full head of healthy hair that they can show off and be proud of. This could be due to a variety of reasons and you may want to confirm from a doctor that it is not the result of a more serious condition. If no other medical issues are diagnosed, instead of addressing the issue with a prescribed medication or over-the-counter hair growth aid right away, why not try some garlic. The reason garlic works so well at helping hair grow back is because it contains keratin, which is what hair is made of. This stimulations growth and increases the strength of your hair. You can try adding garlic to your diet, taking supplements or depending on how brave you are, rubbing it directly on your scalp. You and your hair may smell like garlic, but hopefully the reward of showing off your long, thick, healthy hair will make up for it.

9) Reduces cholesterol

There are a lot of delicious foods out there that people like to eat and unfortunately not all of them are healthy. Some of these unhealthy choices such as fatty, salty foods can cause a variety of health concerns, a major one being clogged arteries. When your arteries become clogged, it can affect your heart and lead to a very serious medical concern. At that point, medication becomes a necessity. One thing that can help reduce cholesterol and thereby reducing the chance of clogged arteries is garlic. Garlic is a great cholesterol fighting food because it can prevent particles of cholesterol from sticking to the walls of your arteries and if the particles cannot stick then you will have nothing to worry about. Since it has a great flavor and has many health benefits, people can easily add it into their daily recipes and watch as their health increases.
